How much will good smartbooks cost?


Its no secret that Qualcomm is pushing smartbooks for their Snapdragon platform and MIDs as well. The above pic if you look at it closely, or in its original form here shows a MID supposedly transferring files to a smartbook. But after extensively reviewing the Lanyu eBook smartbook, the first smartbook that was actually available for purchase, we made some value judgments about how it wouldn’t be a great deal at US$98. We did say however that a better quality smartbook would be an excellent value at that price. But how much will a better quality (1 GHz SnapDragon CPU?) smartbook really cost? Read on.

Hands-on with an Android MID


Shenzhen-based Eston Technology yesterday delivered two units of their latest MID to the offices of our sister site Shanzhaiben.com. The product, the ET-M43A, once featured WinCE but has now had a make-over and sports the hottest OS on the market at the moment, Android.
The first thing that was tested was the general user experience and web browsing function. Overall, browsing seems to be much faster than the WinCE version, and all made much easier with support for finger dragging and the well designed QWERTY keyboard. Read on.
